Natural honey and warm water are the best for coughing, sore throats, and deydration. Steam will break up congestion, put her in the bathroom with the door shut and run a scalding hot shower. Hang out in that till the steam is gone or at least 10 minutes a few times a day. Tonsilitis is an inflamation of the tonsils in the back of the throat, the honey and water will help that too. And as horrible as it sounds, a TINY bit of brandy. Its a common old wives' remedy that has recently been frowned upon because "you cant give your baby alcohol" but the amount you give them is not going to hurt anything and is recommended my some doctors because it works. Antibiotics are bad because they kill off the good bacteria (as well as the bad) and weaken your overall immune system. You give you baby antibiotics today, it gets rid of the cold, tomorrow your baby has another one. Alcohol doesn't. What you do is pour some in a regular spoon, AND POUR IT BACK INTO THE BOTTLE! then take the spoon and tap your finger on the side so a droplet falls off the end into your baby's cup of water and honey. Thats all. The mixture will coat her throat to help the coughing and while its there, the brandy can attack the infection that causes the tonsils to swell. A couple days of the steam and hot drink and your lil darlin should be good as new.
