My daughter doesn't say words very clear yet. How many words should she be saying by now?

Each child is going to be different. At her age most words are not going to be very clear. You should be able to understand some of the words she is using.....mainly the most common words used in your home (milk, up, bye, mommy, etc.) I believe that by time they are 2 yrs old they should be able to say at least 50 words....not necessarily clearly, but well enough to be understood. If you notice that there is a pattern on what is not being said clearly I would talk to your doc about it at the 2 yr visit. Some sounds are normal sounds that take a longer time to say. Sometimes not being able to say a sound or words right can be an indicator of something more going on. Such as poor muscle development, or hearing loss. Again at her age most words are not going to be said clearly.
