How to discipline a 26 month old boy?

I don't understand it...My son is 26 months old, and he is so well behaved at my grandma's house (she babysits him) my mother's, and mother in law's house, but the minute I get there, the jumping climbing temper tantrums and well to put it lightly he goes bezerk. He gives me a really hard time in the morning. I just don't know what to do. I have spanked him a couple of times, and I end up feeling like a terrible mother. My elders all tell me its ok to spank them everyonce in a while. I just don't know, if I spanked him everytime he misbehaved, I feel like all he will remember me by is me spanking him. I just dont know what to do except cry cry and oh yeah cry. How do you discipline a toddler? Is that even possible? Do they comprehend right from wrong? HEEEEEEEEEEEELP

I have a daughter the same age. It's called The Mommy Syndrome. Meaning whenever YOU'RE around it's ok to misbehave. Just be patient, get down to his level and tell him it's not ok to act that way, time out's work well. Although sometimes I have to hold my daughter there lol or she runs away. Try a lot of praise too. "No", doesn't work because that's all they hear. Try a sticker chart and yes they DO understand what they are doing.
