My daughter is 2.5 and she refuses to eat meals, throwing her bowl/plate, and having a complete meltdown. We have been sending her to her room for a time out, only if she is throwing her food, or acting out of control. She has always been a picky eater, but this extreme behavior has just started. We are also making her sit down at the table, and finish what is in front of her ( mind you it's about 4 bites of hot dogs and 2 tablespoons of mac and cheese, which I know she is capable of eating). I'm torn on if this is the right thing to do or not. Any support or helpful tips would be great! HELP!! :)

Well...ahhh. Firstly this behaviour of throwing her plate and food should not be tolerated. If mine ever did that I would explain to them that this behaviour is not acceptable and she will be clearing up her mess. Timeout/naughty corner then for 2 minutes is the punishment for her naughty behaviour. I agree that sitting at a table is important. Learning table manners and etiquette is important. Does she eat by herself? Do u sit down as a family? Does she see u eating the same meal? How about getting her to help u set the table...sauces, plates cups etc... Explain to her the importance of eating a healthy meal. Make it fun with long spaghetti noodles but cut in half that she can slurp up... good luck
