My 2 year old stays sick with a cold and once it gets in his chest it's hard to get out I usually end up taking him to the hospital because it gets so bad that it messes with his breathing and i give him breathing treatments and childrens cold meds usually it doesn't work until his second visit to the Dr. office and they give him the same meds every time that doesn't work the first time. I need so advice

You can try a few things to break up the chest congestion...when the cold first starts, or even in the winter all the time you can place a humidifier near your toddlers bed. The water in the air will help break up some of the mucus so it doesn't get as bad. You can also try rubbing some vicks vapor rub on his chest when he first gets the cold or even after it has caused congestion in the chest. The minty vapors magically break it up. Warm cloth to the chest is an "old wives tale" but I've tried it an honestly it has worked.Give him pineapple juice. This juice contains a high amount of Vitamin C, an enzyme known to break down mucus.
There are other remedies for adults but are not realistic for a child...try getting him to sit still with his head over a boil bowl of water with eucalyptus oils...(I do not suggest this) I hope these suggestions work so you don't need to make those annoying hospital visits as the weather gets colder! Good Luck!
