It's a personal decision. I'm waiting till my daughter asks and is old enough to take of them. I had horrible problems with mine and hardly ever wear earrings so I won't be making a decision that will be permanent without my daughters input.

I wanted to get my one year old daughter's ears pierced but we decided to let her decide if that's what she wanted to do or not when she gets older. This also teaches them a little responsibility. Also at this age a lot of kids are prone to ear infections, since the only way that she can tell you that her ears hurt is by pulling on them I would definitely put it off. You don't want her doing any damage that would make her hurt worse.

Hope our advice helped. It is nice to talk to other moms and get different opinions.

I agree with Amy. If my daughter asks to get it done I will let her. I was 10 when I got mine done. But I don't even wear them anymore because I always have reactions to them. Even the hypo-allergenic ones. So my opinion is to let her be old enough to weigh the pros and cons of ear piercings. Then, if she wants to try it, it will probably make her feel good to make her own decision on it.

I had thought that if I got my dauthers ears pierce at that age then it would have been a relief...but my husband wanted for her to let us know if she wanted them done or not. So she is 4 1/2 and she told us she is ready. I am glad we waited because she can at least expreience it and somewhat remember it. Everyone has their own personal reasons to get them done or wait :)
