Is it awful that my 12 month old cries and screams when I pick him up from daycare? :-(

This week my 1 yr old has started not only practically leaping out of my arms into the daycare lady's arms when I drop him off, but throws a HORRIBLE fit when I pick him up :-( I'm honestly heartbroken. I am elated to be able to pick him up at the end of the day and he seems devastated to see me. He's my only child so I tell myself the reason is because he's with other littles ones his own age there and enjoys them, but that doesn't make me feel better. From the second we get home until he goes to bed we play, cuddle, read, etc. I don't know why he'd dread coming home with me so much. I am SO THANKFUL that he loves going there, I'd be even more upset if he hated it, but I'd at least like him to be happy to see me at the end of the day.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did it pass? Please help..I'm sick about it. Thank you!!

lol that is so cute. I leave my almost 3 year old son with my sister and mother. When I drop him off he cries and want to stay with me and when I come later to pick him up he fights and doesn't want to leave. I am sure if there was anyone his age he would probably do the same thing like your son. Maybe take something with you such as a small toy, story or snack that he likes...He is still very young to understand a lot of things. If you have a DVD player in your vehicle maybe plug in a movie that he likes to watch.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT YOURSELF IN HIS SHOES. WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF YOUR MOM OR DAD CAME AND INTERRUPTED OR STOPPED ANY FUN YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR FRIENDS? LOL THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT WE ARE GROWN AND KNOW HOW TO CONTROL OUR EMOTIONS BETTER THAN CHILDREN. WHILE WE MAY ROLL OUR EYES AND KEEP OUR COMMENTS TO OURSELVES, KIDS HUFF AND PUFF AND CRY AND THROW FITS. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD WHO THINKS SHE IS GROWN AND CAN DO EVERYTHING ON HER OWN. YOUR LITTLE BABY IS JUST GROWING UP MY DEAR. :-)
