Is it ok to give a baby smart water to help with digestion? It is distilled water and electrolytes.

I would definitely ask your pediatrician first. I know that gatorade and powerade are NOT okay to give kids because they are loaded with sugar and are a leading cause of pediatric cavities. Sport drinks are only intended for adults to drink after depleting their normal supply of electrolytes with vigorous exercise. I don't see a problem with distilled water of course, but I'm not sure you need to give your child electrolytes unless you know that he has a deficiency. Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. And if the water has fluoride in it, you definitely don't want to give it to an infant and a toddler doesn't need more than a tiny bit each day. Yeah, I'd check with your pedi on this one. Just give 'em a call.

These are people guessing. Why do people give medical advice or answer these questions when they aren't medical professionals? Shame on you. Definitely do not ever mix an electrolyte water with formula but if the child is older it may be ok. But ask your doctor. It's not going to help with digestion...and if you think your child has an issue with digestion again contact your doctor and if you don't like the answer get a second opinion from a DOCTOR.

How would this aid in digestion, and why do you think he needs help in that area?

a little i think would be okay.
Just avoid fluoridated water. it is harmful to your babies health.

The only thingabout giving them something with electrolytes, they usually have some type of sweetner. If this is to aid your child with a bug, then doc says it's ok....a little sugar free sweetner is far less worrysome than dehydration. Just like eyedrops for adults, ok to use a little, but if you use them regularly then your body will stop producing it. I give my daughter smartwater probably once a week,,,, rehydrate for shopping. haha good luck.

I would think so, that is what is in pedialite and gatorade...we always gave our son gatorade or powerade because it is a lot cheaper and the doctor told us it was basically the same thing.
