My 12 month old cries when I pick him UP from daycare!

My 12 month old son is a happy, playful baby, he loves playing and looking at books and spending time with me and his dad. He goes to an at-home daycare where he gets to play with other babies his age, and he loves it there. His daycare provider is a wonderful and kind woman, who has a ton of fun toys at her house and play structures in her backyard and gives him a lot of attention and love. Everything is great! Except that I get jealous of how happy he is to see her when I drop him off, and when I pick him up, he cries and doesn't want me to take him away, he is having too much fun there! Also, he doesn't like his carseat, and he knows that he is about to be put in the car, so I think that makes it worse.
I know I should just be happy that he doesn't cry and cling to me when I drop him off (he is very independent), and I hate feeling so jealous and hurt when he doesn't want to leave. Sometimes I actually feel like I am competing with this other woman! Has anyone else felt like this?

LOL Yes with her dad. For weeks it was all about mommy. Now it's all about daddy. I wouldn't let it get to you. Your son is your son. When he's 12 that woman won't even be around :) Just be glad there is a place that is helpful to both of you. And enjoy the time you have with him at home. But don't feel jealous there is only one mom and you're it.

I know this is a little late, I just saw your post was from September. I'm experiencing this right now with my 12 month old. It's just started this week and It breaks my heart! I'm telling myself it's because there are other little ones there for him to play with, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I play and cuddle with him all afternoon when we get home from work and daycare until bedtime. I'm hoping it's a phase that will soon pass. Has your son gotten over this or are you still experiencing it?
