my daughter (19months) just recently started hitting her head on things too. i try to ignore it or just give her a look like Hey?? what are you doing? she usually just gives me a funny look back, pretends like it hurts and goes about her day. she's also been hitting herself a little lately, on the head and such.... idk why but i just try to ignore it or say katelyn be nice, don't hit yourself or other things

My now 3 and 1.2 year old did this and like everyone said it is a phase and if you ignore it and don't feed into it it will stop.
She used to bang her head all the time and worry me I am so glad that it stopped.

It is nothing to worry about my 2 year old use to do it all the time... Its just a phrase they go through. Im also with Nicole try to teach him that its not good to hurt him self

It's a developmental thing. Just try and encourage him to do something else, distract him, redirect him, offer him a toy etc.
He'll out grow it, but some kids really like it and will keep doing it and well we don't really want to teach them it's okay to hurt themselves.

yup my son has done it for about 6 months now (hes 19 months) he does it so if hes throwing a tantrum i have to give him a cuddle lol im sure its just a phase and they wont cause themselves any damage, they know their limits. if you can just ignore it as much as possible and it will get boring :)

My 13 month old does it and then laughs... I don't knwo why, but I ignore it, in hopes since I don't make a big deal out of it, he'll quit it.
