My 2 year old WILL NOT sleep through the night

So recently my son has been petrified to go to sleep at night. So I tried everything I could to make him feel safe. He told me that it was a noise by the bathroom (that is actually connected to his room).. its actually the pipes in the walls making an "errrrrr" noise. He hates it apparently and it scares him to the point where he getting out of his toddler bed to kick and scream and bang on his door. So I put a boombox on his dresser and put on some lullabye music on for him on repeat. He seemed to like it but then would wake up between the hours of 2 and 4 am screaming for me again. I'm thinking that noisy wall pipes isn't the only issue here. I think he just wants to snuggle with me and be with me 24/7. I was wondering if maybe I switched his room and the guest room... that way he'll be closer to me and feel more safe. He could still have it decorated in his elmo stuff, just a different room. I think maybe if I made a big deal out of it he would get really excited. I have run out of ideas at this point obviously, let me know all/any suggestions!

Changing rooms sounds like a good idea to me just to remove him from the noisey pipes that scare him. I would keep the soothing music for a while and maybe if you think it necessary a small night light. Although basically this is a battle of the wills between you and your son. He has to learn to self sooth again which means letting him scream for a bit. I would go in and put him back in bed calm him down and then leave the room again. If he starts to cry let him for a set time like 15 to 20mins or so then repeat the soothing process and walk back out again. You may have a few restless nights but eventually he will start sleeping through again. It can be a heart renching experience for the parents too but don't give in because then you may never get a good nights sleep again!

I dont know how you feel about putting a small tv in his room to help take away the bathroom noise, that is what i did for a short while for my son and daughter. My son is now 2 1/2 and just now sleeping through the night.
