About a week ago my 2 yr old daughter started talking is some weird language that she made up. She is normally a very good speaker. Her daycare provider said that they havent noticed this. She doesnt do it 100% of the time, but she thinks its funny. I will ask her what she wants for dinner or if she has to go potty and she answers me in her language (ex. Wa ka wa kaka wa ka). Should I be concerned? Has anyone else ever experienced this?

She hasnt had any recent traumas or anything like that.

thanks in advance

I have an 18 month old and I work with preschoolers doing speech and language therapy. If she isn't doing it all the time and does use "regular" speech as well, I would look at it as a phase. If you are asking a serious question and she responds in her made up language, you can try saying something like "I can't understand you, did you say yes or no." I wouldn't be worried about it, unless it carries on for a long time and the use of every day language starts to fade.
