I started using it occassionally on him in the bath from about 5-6mths of age, then by the time he had a few teeth he was used to it, and it was easy. He did go through a stage, around 18mths of age, where he didn't want me to do it, and when his 2nd set of molars where coming in he didn't want me to touch. He's 22mths now and most days he's great, some days he's so-so and on those days I get him to hel[ brush my teeth. So he'll ne doing mine whilst I'm doing his, then he gets to do his own after I've done them. Also, maybe giving a sticker on a chart or somethign could help...he may get excited toget a sticker when he's a 'big boy' and gets his teeth brushed (works wonders for when I have our boy in 'real' undies and not nappies).

just let him play with it also it may be the tooth paste that he doesnt like. you might also take him and let him pick out his own tooth brush and tooth paste.

i had a similar issue, and when i took my daughter (now 21 months) to the dentist she told me to brush her teeth while shes laying on her back and if i can get someone to help they can hold her arms. its not fun but neither is the alternative.

Let him play with it in the bath. If he gets used to chewing on it he will realize it won't hurt him.
