My three year old has never been afraid of the dark or monsters before his 3rd birthday. Then one day, he wouldnt sleep in his own bed because he was too scared of the dark and monsters. i know kids sometimes at this age get scared, but he has nightlights and sleeps with the tv on. What more can i do to show him that the dark isnt a scary thing?

Guess I should also say ask what color is the moster.. is the monster big or small... where does the moster come from in your room..is teh monster a girl or a boy.... these kinds of things make the kids think and break down the fear a bit.. and you can replace it with things that make them feel better..

Well, why is he scared? Did you ask him what he saw or heard?

I have a 3 yr old daughter and I am always trying to keep up with what channel I left the tv on when I left the room or when she is with me watching tv.. because of the scary movies being advertised and the strong sexual content (I love bravo)... anyhoo.. I think asking him to find out why, then maybe try some solutions from there...

You could try to buy a cheap spray bottle and fill it with water (and a little lavender if you want to add a smell.) And draw monsters on it and write monster spray. Then explain to him that if you spray that it will make sure everything is "safe", Let him spray it all over his room before bed. I have heard of this working for a lot of people. Good Luck!! Also for the dark try leaving the hall light or the bathroom light on!!
