My 4yo never listens, what am I doing wrong?!

i just feel as though I'm at my wits end! My 4yo daughter just never seems to listen. I've tried every approach, from being softer and giving her options, to bribing, giving rewards, and if all else fails, I demand and discipline, but even then never does what she's told. Every task I give her turns into a huge fight. No matter how simple or hard the task, she refuses each time. It's extremely frustrating for me as a parent, I feel like I'm doing it wrong. my biggest concern is that she'll be starting school in a few months, and I don't know if she'll be able to behave properly in the classroom. I know realistically no child is perfect, and fits are normal, but I'm just exhausted from everything turning to a huge blowout and feeling like the mean mom who is constantly screaming at their child. Does anyone else have the same issues? What helps you're child to listen?

Sarah has some great tips. It is normal at this age and she'll most likely be fine at school.
It's amazing that they know exactly how to behave at school or in public but can be soooo trying at home. I always get comment about how my children are so well behaved and well mannered but at home it's like world war 3 and you would think that please and thank you are swear words!!!!
