My daughter is 3 years old and refuses to use the toilet. Any Ideas on what to do?

She is 3 and she will not use the toilet at home. The only time she uses it is when we are out at a family function or some place. Is there anything i could do.

my son did the same thing. what i had to do is buy him a "special" potty and step stool. and my son really wants to go to head start this year so that was a great motivator. try to keep her motivated that is key. she will get it

Keep encouraging. We started with our son at a little over 2 and a half years last September. My son just recently started using the potty all the time. He was in pull-ups full-time, would sit on the potty but still go to the bathroom in the pull-ups instead of potty. We had bought him the Elmo potty video, the potty books, the sticker chart, big boy underwear, and I even tried bribery. Every time he filled a row on his party chart he could get a new movie, he lost interest after the first movie. You have to find something that she likes and something that motivates her. For my son I think it was the fact that he wanted to be a big boy like his friend Rodney (who is the same age but potty trained a long time ago). We also bought him special potty seats that fit onto the potty at home and step stools. Some parents leave a basket of books that interest their child in the bathroom. Hope this helps. Good luck
