My husband and I have been raising our granddaughter since birth and she is now almost two. She started wanting me to hold her hand at sleep time at five months old. That's when it all started. She went from having to hold our hand to holding our hand and rubbing our hands on her eyes over and over and she also has to rub her eyes and face on our arms and legs. If she get tired and were standing up, she rubs her face all over our legs. She also likes to rub our skin with her hands. It's a very strange habit and sometimes it worries me that something is wrong with her. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this with their child. Is it normal?

My little sister used to do stuff like that when she was a baby. When she would get real tired, she'd start massaging my earlobe. Lol, it was really strange and she couldn't sleep without it. She's 6 now and grown out of it. I wouldn't worry too much about It. If it's really concerning you, i would bring it up in her next doctors appointment.

Hi my son used to put his hand down my top whist feeding him, it was a comfort thing, it didn't last long then he started rubbing my face. Then at some point every time he went to rub my face I'd put something into his hand. And now he's nearly 3 and doesn't do it. It lasted for about 6 months. Maybe she likes the feel of skin. Maybe try and find something that feels like skin and when she does this, replace it with that. Then try to wean her off it. To be honest I think it's a habit. And could be solved of your consistent. Hope this helps. Tara x
