Hi all,

I am trying to take advantage of all the sales on summer clothes right now and buy for next year, but what size do I get? My son is currently in a 24Mos/2T. Some brands run big, others not. I know the childrens place is big on him, he can still fit 18/24mos there, and Carters it HAS to be a 2T.

So do I go up one size, or 2 you think? He did not grow much this past year, got taller, but that is about it. Only 3 lbs more now. What do you think?? 1st and Only kid, so I have no idea

It is hard to tell with my girl what size she will e next summer. B/c she is 36inches tall and weights 39 pounds. If I go with her height the clothes are to small. If I go with her weight the pants will be to long on her and the sleaves as well. She is tall as a 3 year old and havey as a 4/5 year old. This summer she is wearing 4t in every thing. Tried on 5t on her and it is a bit big. My girl is 2 1/2 now. My son is 9 and wears L or 10/12 in tops and pants 8 or 10. He was big for a toddler. I remember him being in 5/6 when he was 5 and 6 year old. The next size for my girl would be 5/6 but that size is to long for her and will long not to good on her. The 4t is starting to look small is some things. She has a tummy so the tops she grows out of faster then the pants but some pants are to small in the wast. So what do you guys think I should get for next summer?

This year my son was still wearing some 24mos shorts (turned 3 end of July) but could fit in 3T shorts they just looked like capris :) He still fits into his 2T winter jacket... He went into 3T shirts in June. So I would agree w/the mom that 2 sizes too big on shirts is a good idea, plus if you get Tshirts they can wear those all year so if they hit a growth spurt you can put em n them early or if they slow down you can have them for later...I personally hate having to store crap and will forget about it when the times comes that I could use it, so I just buy it when I need it...consignment stores are great places to get decent clothes w/out having to pay lots of money. I don't think I would buy pants early though cuz they could be in totally different sizes with their waist or length... I have a neighbor whose daughter is 3 sizes up in pants because she is soo tall, and then needs a belt because she's a stick! Shorts may or may not be the same but IDK???

Oh, I do the same thing! They grow out of the clothes so fast it is ridiculous to buy alot of clothes full price. For my daughter (27 months and also my first and only) I love adjustable waist pants! They are wonderful. My daughter is 18m/24m waist and between 2T/3T length for pants, 3T/4T for shirts and dresses.

If you get bigger he'll grow into it eventually. If you get it too small he may never wear it and then it doesn't matter how good of a deal you got on it. Swim shoes it is safe to get 1/2 to 1 full size larger than they wear now. You can count on some growth between now and next summer so definitely go big. You are right about brands being different. Disney runs pretty small.

Good luck! I love to get stuff ahead of time and on sale too!

I would probably just get a size up from what he is in mabye 2 sizes for t shirts. My son would even sometimes fit the same shorts from the year before. For some reason summer things he always wears a smaller size so I wouldn't go too big. You could also try and find things with an adjustable waist so if it's a little big you can just tighten it up.

Honestly, speaking from experience. It is seriously a BAD idea to buy that far ahead. I used to buy Gymbo and TCP and Gap ahead and then they would hit a growth spurt or they wouldnt grow that much at all and then I would be stuck with clothes that they couldnt wear.

My daughter hit a HUGE growth spurt after she turned 1. She went into 2T and some 3T. She stayed that way through the winter. This summer she stayed in mainly 3T but this fall.winter she is already getting into 4T and some 5T. She is only 2.5.

My son has stayed in the same size for 2 years now and slowly growing. He is almost 6 and wearing 8s in clothes and 10s in jammies.

Hmm...My son is wearing 18mos up to 2T in some things right now, and he is 15 months. I think that what I would do if you are buying the clothes on sale, and not on clearance, is to go up 1 size on things from places that run bigger, and 2 sizes on places that run smaller. Leave all tags on until you try them on next summer and you should be able to exchange them later if they are the wrong size....except for clearance items which usually can not be returned.
