My son is 20 months old and he has been having trouble pooping since he was born. He is also a twin and his twin has no problems in that area. I have had him at the Doctor's, blood work done and ultra sounds done. They tell me there is nothing wrong, but prescribe me stool softner and laxatives. HE STILL HAS TROUBLE!!! It takes him an hour to poop and cries and sweats the whole time. It's breaking my heart!!! :(

My children’s pediatrician advised us to use Toddler magic tea with two of my children who got really constipated. It worked well, quickly and without side effects. You can use this up to twice a day to get things moving then once a day to keep things regular.

@Sara, I would also love a remedy; my 2.6year old also struggles and has since she was born; very heartbreaking when they struggle so much; hopefully someone has a remedy? my mom swears by mashed banana first thing in the morning on an empty tummy (but i dont find its worked); what does on my daughter is those dried fruit lollies (no the sugar coated ones, but the ones that are compressed into sticks or squares); i give her a few of these on an empty tummy and by afternoon she's got a perfect poop!

Try waiting prunes and nursing, also warm apple juice! My sons allergies clog him up and usually if I have lots of fiber and nurse him he poops pretty quickly and painlessly! Good luck!
