Need help with toddlers teeth

My daughter just had 4 caps on the top four teeth. I brushed them and they bled like expected but its been almost a week and she is fighting me so hard that im worried i am not doing a good enough job. I have to hold her down kicking and screaming and now she wakes up at night saying ow ow. I think me brushing her gums is causing her teeth to hurt and wake her up at night. Her gum line above her caps looks red and swollen and i know they hurt her when i tough them she says oww oww and she pulls her top lip down around her teeth like she is protecting them. should i brush them any way or let them heal first? If i dont brush them are they gonna get worse?

Since I am not there to SEE inside her mouth the best I can say is maybe get her to swish some warm salty water around in her mouth, severa! times a day, til you can have her seen by the DDS who put the caps on. The saline swish will cleanse away some bacteria and possibly soothher gums, too. I'd at least call the DDS tomorrow, but I realize most are closed on weekends with nobody on call. IF she was to have fever or any foul odor from her mouth before Monday, the ER/Urgent Care is advised.
