I completely agree, thank you, I've sat him on the potty a few times and he got a kick out of it he follows his dad to the bathroom to I've heard for boys that's a good start but I don't know my oldest son was 2yrs old before we potty trained him and by the time he was 3 he was 100% potty trained

First see if he is interested. If he is not interested then he is not ready yet. Follow his lead. 17 months is pretty young yet, he may or may not be ready yet. In general boys r closer to 3 yrs old before they r trained. Their control muscles develop later then girls....In general. Have a little potty out and just allow him to explore and learn. With my youngest it was the easiest and even an enjoyable process, because I really just let her lead the way. I learned from watching her it is not so much as training it is more about teaching. And just like walking, talking, reading it is a process and they have to learn the basics first. Just because they get one area quick does not mean they will get potty training quick. And with in learning to potty they may catch onto one area quickly but struggle with a different area.
