My name is Alicia. I have a 21 month old son Jensen. He is my only child. Its been a difficult road being a first time mom. I have been with my sons father for 8 years and we were perfect for each other up until I had our son. He gets to be apart of our sons life but it seems like he doesn't want to. I pretty much do everything. No complains... I love my son and I would do everything for him just so he's happy and healthy. But lately my boyfrie d and I have just bumped heads a lot because we don't communicate very well. We don't live together so that makes it twice as hard. I don't want to get into too much details as to why he doesn't live with me. But yeah.

So you had a child with someone who is not committed enough to live with you? I’m sorry but that seems like a shaky beginning for a family. Family is committed to each other and to growing together. If your bf was mature enough to be a father he would be interested, be a support to you, want to be a part of his son’s life. You may have thought you were a perfect couple but that was only as long as there was no responsibility on his part. You need to have a sit-down with him and in a loving way explain your feelings, your needs, what you hope to see develop in a father-son relationship. Sometimes guys feel clueless and so they retreat. Give him a chance to step up to the plate and be an adult. If he doesn’t then you have some hard choices to make. In any event, keep him in your son’s life if you can. Family is so important. You may be able to join a local moms group to get some support. Check out mops.org to see if there is a group in your area. I have prayed for your family. Blessings.
