I'd be careful about pushing him into it this early. My sister in-law told me she regretted trying to potty train her son so early. It ended up hurting the training process. He didn't end up being potty trained until just before his fourth birthday (and even that was daytime only). I think you should look for the signs and make sure they are present before training. Boys tend to be ready to potty train much later than 2. Starting too early could become very frustrating to both you and your son. When they are ready it goes really quick. I'm on the end part of training with my daughter right now and I had to start and stop a couple of times. You should follow his lead and not force it.

One other thing, a reward system is an excellent way of getting them motivated. I found stickers, little toys, and candy to work very well. I only use the stickers for peeing since that is the most frequent. I bought little dollar toys that she helped pick out and placed them in a large bin. Every time she pooped she got to pick out one toy. I feel candy is my major motivator. I started using candy when we started to use public restrooms. Public restrooms are loud, uncomfortable, and a pain in the butt, but candy sure works.

Every thing I have used (except candy) has been pretty much phased out. Occasionally she'll ask for a toy.

Good luck,

I started my son at 2 years old he would go on the potty once a day because his big brother brought him into the bathroom to go. That did not last long he tells me mommy I am to big to go on the potty. He is just not ready he will be 3 in Oct. I was told the best way is to get the colored things to put in the potty so when he does go the water changes colors or something like that but good luck!
