my husband and I have been arguing over how many days a week our son (who is 4) should go to preschool. he currently goes two half days a week. in sept I want him to go one more day my husband thinks he needs to go five days a week to prepare him for kindergarten. I am a stay at home mom and believe five days is way too much plus the financial burden of him going everyday is ridiculous since I am home. I work with him on spelling and math everyday he's not in school as well. I never went to preschool and I graduated with honors from high school and Rutgers university. I also believe he only gets to be young once and will spend the next 12 yrs at least in school everyday. we are at a stalemate. I don't know what to do to convince my husband that he does not need to go everyday. I would greatly appreciate anyone's advice. I do not want to do my son a disservice and not have him prepared for kindergarten but I believe he is more than prepared. he recently started taking a speech therapy class ( he has problems with enunciation nothing too serious) and during his first session there they did an aptitude test and said he scored very high for his age on the same level as a child who is about to graduate kindergarten so it's not as if he needs the extra help. thank you all!

I don't think he needs to go five times a week. I don't think your son needs to prepare himself that much for kindergarten. When he transitions to first grade the day will be twice as long. All children go through that together. Good luck !
