At 2 he's not going to care. Have balloons and streamers and a colorful cake and of course presents and he'll be totally happy. If he's talking, you can ask him what he wants on his cake and make that your theme. I have to say that I don't remember ever having a themed birthday party, and yet all of my birthdays felt special.

What's his favorite TV show or book character? That's how I've themed most of my son's parties. His 2 year old party was Go Diego Go. There's always Micky Mouse. Or you could just go to the store and see what kind of themes they have in their party supply section. I found when I thought about diong one theme - I think for his 3rd birthday - that I would have had to order the decorations and stuff online because the character isn't very mainstream.

Hiya Haley Here in the u.k. we have a t.v. programme called "Waybaloo" i think that is the correct spelling why not enter it in your web browser if you are like me you may feel that you could well maybe perhaps have a" Waybuloo" party for him. I personally watch it in my break @ work + i find it so relaxing we are all individuals + it would be dead boring anyway if we were all the same but for me i find the prog wonderfull delightfull so relaxing and its absence of technology for me certainly is a very very big plus +

Curious George, Thomas the Train, Diego, Dinosaur theme, Puppy dog Theme, At 2 years old they don't really know, just even some streamers, cupcakes and he'll be happy. I wouldn't worry about getting to elaborate. :) Happy Birthday to you little guy!

My sons 2ND birthday was about Caillou, his favorite pbs cartoon. I didn't go all out with it though. Just a home made cake topper and some decorations for the house. He didn't even seen to notice!

I suggest going light on something he lives, trains, monsters, a face book perhaps

My son was into trains at that age and I made a train cake it was actually very easy. And trains are easy to make out of paper too so if you wanted to make decorations yourself you could or just buy Thomas the Tank Engine plates and napkins. Made my son happy. If you want I could tell you how to make a train, or dump truck, or fire truck with a "Burning house". My son loves shape cakes and since we don't like fondant it makes more mess when babies stuff it in their mouth. I have also made building blocks and butterflies and know how to make most bugs if he is into that. Good Luck!

What's his favourite toy? My son was big on lions when he turned two, so that was the theme. I did a lion cake and some tails (pompoms on a string glued to a clothespin) for the kids. The kids didn't want to wear them, but they were very keen on the dads wearing them. It was pretty funny.

What does he like? What's he into? Our son was really into Horton Hears a Who when he was two so that what we went with. You can also just go with a color scheme instead, that's what we did for our son's 1st birthday since he wasn't really big on anything particular at that point. Good luck!
