Is it a sign of autism that my 3 year carry's five to six toys when we leave the house? Do autistic children let their parents help with and touch their stuff?

Thank you for your reply...I thought it was normail too. Kaiser diagnosed him with autism for a number of sign but I thought they were all so mild if any that I wasn't convinced. The state siad he's fine.

Its never troubled me he grabs a bunch of toys so he got used to it; I figured entertainment for later and wouldn't dream of saying no.

Thanks.

Your child does not have autism. Any 3 yr old is going to take as many toys as a parent allows him to take when leaving the house. And any 3 yr old is going to throw a fit when told "no". Any parent who parents is going to set boundaries and limits and deal with the fit (tantrum). At the age of 3 yrs. kids are wanting to do things on their own as they are growing and learning and becoming more independent. As a parent you have to decide if it is appropriate to allow the child to do it on their own or not. Getting dressed on their own?.....good learning tool and yes appropriate for them to do on their own. Picking out their clothes?.......good learning tool, but may need to be guided some as to pick the appropriate clothing for the season and the day. Helping stir a hot pot on the stove?........not age appropriate and something that you need to say "no" to and deal with the fit if there is one for saying "no".
