I really think it depends on the kid. I would try to get rid of sippy's as soon as you can, but the straw cups aren't as bad, seeing as how we drink out of straws as adults.

My lo is 18 mo and drinks from a regular cup inside and a straw cup when we're out. She's doing good but we still only barely give her enough to cover the bottom of the cup. I had ordered an EIO cup and love it.

At 2 years we threw out all sippy and straw cups. The kids had sports bottles for the car and outside and inside they drink out of regular cups.

My son is 4 years old and uses the cups with the built in straws or the sports type but I am afraid that I am letting him use it way past the 'correct' age. Is there an age in which they should drink mainly from regular cups?

My daughter never used a sippy cup she went to a sports bottle like you would find on a water bottle. She is now 3 and drinks from a cup or sports bottle or straw.

Just be careful if your child is prone to ear infections that sippy cups cause a strain on the ears from the sucking and drinking directly from a cup is gentler on the ear.

Started the sippy at 4 months and she is 18 months and still uses one but uses a cup too, so my guess is by 2 years we wont be using a sippy anymore. She never used the ones with a straw.

At what age did you take away the sippy cup? This includes the cups with built in straws.
