Hi there- I am new to this site. My son is 4 yrs old and he still has a big soft spot on his head . Its about the size of a silver dollar. We have taken him to see a dr and a neuroligist and they really dont say why this is happening. They just tell me that there is a bone definsensy on his head. Its on the front of his head behind the hair line and its sunken in normally unless he is being active. The only option they say is if its not closed by 5 to operate, which I really do not want. I hope there is another solution. If anyone has more info on this I would love to hear. They say its pretty rare. Thank you for your time. -Kelly

An endocrinologist is a good place to get a second opinion. I would also ask your neurologist for a list of drs he usually works with and pick one that he doesn't list.

Thanks, I called and talked to another neuroligist office and they suggested talking to a endocrinoligist. So we will see. No I do not want that, I just would like some more answers though. So the more info that I have by talking to more people the better. :) Thank you:)

A bone deficiency can be caused by numerous things and to my knowledge the only way to correct it when it leaves soft spots over the brain is surgery. You do not want his brain exposed for the rest of his life do you?
