Story time troubles

My daughter always loved story time up until recently. She used to beg me to read three or four stories. Her grandma got her a Nabi last Christmas and since we moved to a new state, she's enjoyed it more. Now when it's time to go to sleep, I'll try reading her a story and she doesn't want me to. She tells me that her nabi can read bed time stories. It hurts me a little bit, but she really enjoys the interactive stories to fall asleep to. I feel like this isn't a good trend and it hasn't been going on long but she's just not interested anymore. She gets very upset, and I'm not sure what to do about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would be cautious about kids using electronic devices before bed. Researchers have said that reading on the light-emitting screen can suppress the sleep hormone, melatonin, and can shift the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. In adults, most sleep problems were seen after an hour or two on the device before attempting to sleep, but younger people might be more sensitive to their effects. I don't really know anything about the Nabi in particular, but you might want to limit her time before bed.

Parents should be monitoring their children's time and activities on all electronic devices, so maybe you could join her in her room as the Nabi reads her a story, or as she does activities on the tablet. That way, she gets used to you "supervising' these activities and you get some cuddle time before bed. Then when it's "lights out" all devices should be removed from her room so she's not tempted to get back on if she can't sleep.
