My son is 3 1/2 yrs. old and he has really bad stranger anxiety. everywhere we go is a constant struggle. Taking my daughter to school, stores, parks or visiting friends. sometimes it takes me 10 to 20 mins. just to talk him into getting out of the car. anywhere between 10 to 30 mins. after arriving he is fine and socializing. What can I do (if anything) to get him calmed down and have less anxiety. we even had to give up story time at the library because his behavior was too disruptive

i think some kids are just naturally shy and he will grow out of it eventually, i would maybe try talking to him and let him know what it is youre doing before hand and keep reminding him what to expect maybe even talk about what he would like to do once you get there to give him something to look forward to, hope this helps

Does he have a lovey? I would say bring it with for him for the first 15 minutes or so, until he calms down, then you can take it away when he is occupied...or don't, that's up to you.
