Sudden change in my toddlers sleeping habit.

My son has started having sleeping problems over the last 2-3 months. To start, this is my first child and I have held him or rocked him to sleep since he was born up until around his 2nd birthday. Once he turned two, he slept in our room on a mattress on the floor, then we converted his crib to a day bed in his room. We then let him cry it out till he fell asleep on his own, which only took 2 days. He continued to fall asleep on his own for 2 months then he started to appear fearful of going to bed and would wake up several times a night. We thought it was because of teething his two year molars. However, now he will not go to sleep unless we are in his room in sight and he wakes up 2-3 hours after falling asleep and wanders into our bedroom and climbs in our bed. I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this type of problem and what advice we can get. I can't stand to hear him scream and I don't want him to cry but nothing we do is working. Please help. Thanks. Allison

Thanks. The reason I'm not sure what's going on is not that he's been sleeping in my bed but because he did fine sleeping in his own bed all night for a few months and now all of a sudden he's fearful of falling asleep in his room and he's waking up more in the night. Now I will say, he's never been a good sleeper since the day he was born and woke several times till around two. But I'm just confused about why its changes now

Hi Allison,

It's pretty normal for them to change their habits. He is used to sleeping with you so he is going to come into your room. I personally don't recommend CIO. It's not good for them :/ Try the Baby Whisperer by Tami Hoge.
