I have a three year old who is having trouble sleeping through the night (again). He slept through the night until he was about a year and a half old. After many weeks of trying to get him to sleep, we decided to put a TV and DVD player (no cable connection) in his room because it seemed to calm him down. It is still in there, but we only leave on until he falls asleep and then we turn it off. That worked and he was sleeping through the night until about two weeks ago, Now I am not sure what to do, I think it would really break his heart if we just took the TV away. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I basically have the same routine every night. In his room by 8:30 and TV off by 9:00 or 9:15. I tried changing it recently by making his bed time later but that didn't really help. His bedtime is now 10, so in bed by 9:30, TV off at ten. Its just all of a sudden that he wakes up.

I think TV should not be in bedroom, especially not to be on at sleep time. Your child has to learn to fall asleep by himself in the quiet room. I would take the TV out ASAP and set up night routine which will prepare him for sleeping. You could exchange TV for story time and night light, maybe that would make it easier.
