Taking my 17 mo off the bottle and I am having major issues!

Hi Mommas,

I have been trying to take my daughter off of bottles. During the day she uses her sippy cup just fine (straw ones) but at night she wakes up and the only thing that really soothes her is a bottle. I've tried giving her a sippy and she gets so mad and refuses it. We end up staying with her at her bedside pleading with her, letting her scream and cry, and what not. Well My husband and I are exhausted! It's pretty much an every night thing and we're up 1-2 hours trying to get her back to sleep. Also I should mention we moved into our new house and she's in her own room so yes it's a lot of change but we've been at the new room, no bottles thing for 3 weeks now. I am so frustrated and lost at what I should do. Help, advice, something!

I recently weened my daughter off of her bottle and had this almost exact problem. She's nearly 2 and teething really badly, so that didn't help with no bottle either. We just stuck it out! The sleepless nights were not fun and the screaming was even worse, but your girl is testing you! She's trying to see if you'll give in and give her exactly what she wants, which is her bottle. Just stick with what you're doing and she'll adjust in her own time. I might seem harsh, but this is what got my daughter over her bottle. I had to show her that even though I love her, I have to be tough on her because it is in her best interest. I hope this helps, love! Good luck and don't forget to breathe!
