Okay, maybe this is a dumb question that I know the answer to, but I wanted someone else's opinion on the situation. My mother in law has a pit whom has been aggressive with three dogs now, in which one was so badly injured she had To be put down. She's bit her own owners when they try to pull her off of whatever dog she's attacked. They think its okay for my daughter whom is only 14 months to be around her. She ( my daughter ) doesn't know how to be around dogs yet. Sometimes she's too rough or sometimes she tries to kiss them in the face. This pit has never been aggressive to a human who hasn't tried to pull her out of a fight and she ( the dog ) has never reacted in anyway when the kids have hit her or played with her, but I'm still not comfortable with it.

How old is your daughter? Have you tried telling your mother in law how you feel? If you are uncomfortable with this, I would talk to her. I have had this problem with a dog before, my son is only 3, and doesn't realize that smaller dogs don't like to be jumped on or have their tails get pulled. Some dogs don't react well and I think it's better safe than sorry. I know pits have a bad rep, but I think they're just like any other dog. :) I had an Australian Shepherd that snapped at me and bit my finger, I gave him back to my mom because that could've easily been my child. You never know how the dog will react if he is messed with.
