My 3 year old toddler keeps saying "shut up". I then put my child for time out for saying that but they still continue to say it even though they I put them in time out. Anyone know any better solutions or ideas to better resolve this issue ?

I would ignore it also, a lot of times my kids keep saying something during class time because they know I will respond to it. Maybe they're looking for some type of attention?

I would suggest you ignore it. You are giving them a reaction whenever they say it and they think it's funny. Say once that it's not a nice thing to say and then walk away. They will soon get bored and not bother anymore.

What is going on when they say shut up? And maybe you should tell them it is not nice to say that to mommy or whomever. Time out may not work in this instance.
