I know this has been a common question as I've searched posts but since children are different I wanted to post my own.

My daughter is almost 19 months, this past week she has started excessively removing her diaper & pants. In fact last night I changed the sheet 3 times from her peeing all over it. I'm almost 8 months pregnant so constant nights like these will be draining....*sigh

Now before recently she has taken her diaper off maybe 3-4 times in her crib(at nap time no less) when I didn't put pants on her for a nap(during the warm, humid summer months). Now last week she was constantly removing her shirt, and when I'd go to bed(about 2-3 hours after her) her shirt would be off or when I woke up to go to the bathroom in the early hours). She doesn't do this during the day, except for one instance last week in which she got mad and took her shirt off at Grandma's house.

So is this one of those I'm acting out because you put me to bed(she has always disliked the nap/bed time part of the day) or is this an I want to be naked phase.... 1st week its the shirts and now its the pants/diapers...I have to say I liked the shirt thing.

Now I'm heading to wally world for zip up in back PJs and bigger diapers...We already use a size 5 and she isn't even the minimum weight but 4s seem a little too tight.

Oh and her communication isn't the best, it was actually better before she started walking at about 11 months old. She sticks completely to a couple syllables now like Da(words for anything D-sounding, Dog, Da-da, etc), Ba(bottle, bug, baby, etc), and of course Ma-ma was her 1st word and shes great at that one. And then the common use of What's that which sounds more like Its that.

Ideas? Helpful hints(other than the general, two diapers, back zipper onesie PJs, etc). I mean maybe she is ready to start potty training although I think its early, even though she understands a LOT I think her lack of communication will be a big issue with trying potty training.

Do you have a mattress protector? Mine would have been ruined without one. I mean I tried everything for her to keep her diaper on, short of duct taping it. It was everyday that she smeared her poop. I would honestly cry about it. Can you do the PJ's backwards? So that the zipper is in the back? I am researching on google and some parents actually DID use duct tape!

My daughter used to do this. It went on for 2 months. I couldn't come up with a tried and true solution. She would smear her poop everywhere and I was at my wits end! I would catch her sometimes and stop it, but most times I couldn't. Try to get her to go to the bathroom before she takes a nap. Or goes to bed. That's all I can really say....

Not exactly a protector although I know I can get those at walmart(I bought a twin bed size for a litter of puppies). I do have some of the....hmm how to describe them...they sell them in the section near pads and depends for the elderly, they are like smaller washable pads, about the same size as a baby blanket, I put these under the crib sheet, two would cover the entire mattress however so until I get back to Walmart I could use that.

I did go today but didn't think of that, Duuuh.....Anyways my LO hasn't yet determined exactly how to undo several buttons(I used all button up shirts last week when she was on her take my shirt off rampant at night) and I did find some one piece long sleeve outfits for sleeping, which I figure I need for upcoming winter months anyways. So I'm gonna see how those work....they are the kind with like 10 buttons at the bottom around the legs/diaper area.

I also bought one whole body zip up PJs I will try forwards or backwards(again she hasn't quite mastered the zip up because we have only used pants/shorts and shirts without zippers so forwards may be just fine) as well as buying some tights, underwear, pull ups(Shoulda thought to use my huggies swimmers last night.....) and a 1st potty to see how that goes. Of course she thinks its a box of some sort because while I unloaded the car, she proceeded to put all her smaller toys in the seat container....

Too bad they dont make all button up past 12 mths or I'm sure that would have worked for her. She is too fascinated with the pretty buttons to try unsnapping them all. She just likes to point at them and try to say Button.

I have to say I really hope she doesn't go as far as to smearing poop everywhere. I know I'm lucky last night was all pee without any poop. Though I wonder if its in relation to her having pooped the night before. Thats around the time the diaper tearing off started, she was full of pee and poop but luckily hubby checks her before he goes to bed which is really late(but a good thing considering I'm about to have a 2nd so he can do night feedings) so she was changed within a few hours(she had been the past month as a few weeks ago she had a bout of diarrhea and it chafed her bad - I didn't think 5 mins of diarrhea could do that but we were at the DR when it happened, took a week of super strength desitin slathering every 2 hours and multiple baths a day to cure it).
