My son went to the dentist at 14 months and we were referred to a pediatric dentist. We got our appt at 16 months and had to go back again at 18 months. They've told me my DS is going to have to have his 4 top front teeth pulled. I am devastated. Especially since I started brushing his teeth the moment he got them. She told me she is surprised he isn't in pain now so this just kills me. He could go under GA but the wait is several more months or they could do it in the office with a liquid immobilizer medicine. Since its sooner and sounds safer that's what we are going to do in July. He isn't allowed to eat or drink anything for 5 hours before and not allowed to suck anything for 2 days. I feel like he'll be starving but he won't be able to nurse or even drink from his sippy cups. He will be 20.5 months old. Does anyone have tips or have gone through this experience? I also am worried he'll be swollen? Will he need to get partials for eating and speech since he's so young? Thank you!

Hi Stephanie,
I don't have any personal experience with this myself, but by just reading your post it sounds completely overwhelming. I'm sorry you guys are experiencing this. I can say, having had teeth pulled myself that yes he will be swollen and he will hurt for at least a few days afterward. And I don't believe they do/would do partials for someone that young, from what I've seen they just go without those teeth until the adult ones grown in. If you don't mind me asking...why do they want to pull them? (I only ask because I have seen so many little ones having to get teeth pulled)
