Our little man seems to have his own built in Doppler radar. If a storm is near us he will NOT sleep in his crib. He wants to sleep on the couch with at least mommy or daddy close by. Has any other parent experienced this and how to you get them over it or do you just have to wait for them to outgrow it?

NO he is not scared of them he just seems to know when they are coming and is a little bad mood bear most of the day till it hits. He will eventually go to his crib and stay there but until the storm hits he is very determined to stay near us. Once its starts he he is fine its really weird but as my daughter put it at least we know when a hard storm is coming.

Is he afraid of the storm? I had good luck taking my son out of his bedroom one night when a thunderstorm woke him up. He was crying and scared, and I took him to the living room with the lights out and he sat on my lap in front of the window and ate cheerios and we cheered and clapped every time the lightening went, and said, "Wow!" every time the thunder rolled. I think he was about 18 months old at the time. It worked completely. By the end he was as enthusiastic as I was. Sometimes a really loud peal of thunder will wake him up these days, but because he isn't scared, he can just roll over and go back to sleep.
