Traveling with a 2 year old.

How do I get from the car to the plane as smoothly as possible, carrying a car seat, luggage and of course my 2 year old? I can check my luggage in, but what about the car seat? And should I bring a stroller? I'm trying to vacay in California for a week..not sure if a stroller is needed, but then again, I guess its always good to have one on hand.

I was thinking about getting the strap for the luggage and car seat, and carrying it all in one...but his legs are long for a two year old so I'm not sure I should get the strap.

HELP! (and trying not to wait to the last minute to plan).

I believe the airline will force you to check-in your car seat at the airport as it won't fit in any of the storage compartments on the plane. If you bring a stroller, they will have you check that in as well. Contact the airline first and find out what their rules and regulations are regarding checking in car seats and strollers with your baggage.

I went on a trip with my 2-year-old without my husband, and I arranged to have a car seat with the rental car place so I didn't have to carry one around or check one in. I decided to leave the stroller at home. I wanted to be able to manage my daughter and luggage with minimal help, and that was the only way I felt comfortable on my own. If anything, the most difficult part was the actual plane ride and trying to keep her entertained the entire trip. We managed okay since I brought my iPhone where she watched her favorite shows. I also made sure to bring her coloring books and books she loves to keep her occupied.
