At what age is it appropriate to let you child play without your supervision? Such as outside, arcade, playground, ect. Thanks for your input.

Outside-If it was in my own yard and it was fenced in and I knew the neighborhood super well, had a lock on the fance gate so she couldn't get out etc maybe 6 or 7 but it would be completely child and situation specific
An arcade or in public unsupervised. I'm thinking a teenager. 12 or 13 at least. And again it would depend on the kid and how responsible I felt he/she was
A playground I would say at least 12 or 13 as well.

Although we are getting ready to build a new house in a small community with a community playground and dh and myself were just talking about when our kids would be old enough to wlak down and play on it themselves and we were sayign if there were a group of kids then we may be comfortable with it when they are 8 or 9.

my daughter is 8 years old, and still supervising her every now and then, maybe because we dont have fence in our back yard, and she still does not let us know if she decides to go and say hi to neighbrs!!! or when taking a walk , she also gets distracted a lot coz she is very curious, which makes me concerned and not feeling comfortable to let her out by her self!!!!

My son is 2 and we have a fenced in back yard and live in a very safe neighborhood. He goes outside and plays by himself all the time, but only out back. He knows that he is not allowed out front by himself because there are strangers and cars on the road. We also have 2 big dogs that sit out there with him, so I feel he is pretty safe. I always crack a window so I can hear him and check on him about every 20 minutes or so :o)

At home, I started allowing my son to go into his bedroom by himself around the time he turned 2. I will go in and pop my head in the door every 15 minutes or so to check on what he's doing. I live in an apartment building so I don't have an enclosed backyard for him to play in, but there is a park outside that we go to. He is almost 3, and supervised at all times. Sometimes I will walk around the park with him and sometimes I will sit on the bench, but I ALWAYS have my eyes on him.

thank ladies. My daughter is 2 and Very outgoing and independent. not to mention that she fears NOTHING. most the time we are surrounded by those we know and trust. But I think my daughter has gotten to used to that because anywhere we go she treats it like home and is gone! So I'm not sure how to even teach her to stay by me and dad and wait for one of us to go with her.

it would depend on how independet n confident your child is but my 3 children 2 4 6 play outside in the back yard unsupervised and have for a long while i often check on them n before letting them out check for any dangers in the yard .... at an arcade i would say depending on how far from hme it is and who they were with (friends) but id say around 12-13 and the playground or park once again depends on how far away from hme it is as if it wwere right nxt door or accross the rd id say 9-10 but any further than that id say as a teenager 12-13
