I guess he hit his "tolerance" for moving. Children like routine and familiar surroundings and it sounds like your son is very flexible, but everyone have their limits.

He probably got attached to his old house and now he needs time to "know" the new house. When we moved I walked all around the house with my daughter, pointing things and naming the rooms. I let her explore extensively until she lost interest and returned to her toys. Spending some time in her room playing during the day helped too. When I could, I also tried to position furniture the same way in her room and involved her in unpacking.of her clothes and toys ( mess abounded and it took forever, but she liked being involved) and putting decorations up. We continued with routine as in the previous house.

I also noticed change with sleeping and it was difficult time, but it reverted back in time. You just have to 'ride it out", its a huge change for such a small child, especially since he is definitely at the age to notice his surroundings and the change, but didn't have the capacity to really understand that you will be moving at the time it happened.
