I haven't got anything specific for Hoboken, but some general options to consider are:

Nanny sharing - you share a nanny with another family. This depends on where you live, but often a nanny for three children is cheaper than daycare for three. If you have one child and they have two pooling your resources and hiring a nanny can be less expensive than a traditional daycare centre.

Cooperative daycare - less expensive because parents volunteer a certain number of hours.

Childcare swap - you watch someone else's children in exchange for them watching yours. This doesn't usually work for full time care, but it can work for part time or for people who work unusual hours.

Babysitting / Home Daycare - a senior or stay at home mom cares for your child. A lot of stay at home moms do this for a bit of extra money while they're home with their kids, and so their kids have other children around. Similarly, some seniors do it for an income supplement and because they enjoy children. Some people also set up fairly elaborate daycares in their home and operate a lot like a regular daycare centre, but they cost less because they have a lower overhead.

YMCA - sometimes the Y has less expensive daycare, or a fee structure that accounts for family income.
