What do you think about used baby products?

My husband and I are considering purchasing used baby products for the first time and would like to get some feedback on some of the questions that we have. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

-Have you ever purchased a used item for your baby? What are your top three criteria when consider purchasing used baby goods?

-What are your concerns when you buy used baby goods?

-If you haven't bought a used product for your baby, why?

I would not buy a used carseat for safety reasons, you don't know if it has been in a wreck. Anything else is fair game though if it is in good shape. There are certain things, like furniture with lots of fabric, that I wouldn't buy unless it was from a family member so I could know the history. I wouldn't want to buy toys or gear that smells like cigarette smoke or something. In my area, all of the craigslist ads are trying to sell baby stuff for more than I would pay for it new on sale though, so I usually don't bother.

bed bugs, maybe unsafe .... always a call back on baby products ... I like knowing it was new and I use right .. if something gos wrong I know it was not from my end. I have so much worry I dont want to worry if .. the baby is safe in this or that.

It depends on what you are looking at. I personally wouldn't buy a used carseat because you don't know the full history of it.

As long as the items are clean and in sound working order I don't see a problem with anything else. If I bought a cot/crib 2nd hand I would get a new mattress though.
