My daughter is mixed with Mexican and black and her hair came out really dry and curly and thick. I have yet to find a product that will lock in moisture...any ideas??? Also she is always scratching her scalp, what could it be and what is good for it???

the very best I've found (that has made A SUBSTANTIAL DIFFERENCE WITH VERY FIRST TRY...and I've tried all...)

Is Mixed Race Kids...originally I found them in CVS by accident but no longer, and the Target near me didn't carry anymore either (may have been out?). So last batch I actually just web searched (it's that big a difference)...

Anyway...shampoo, conditioner (for as long as she'll play with head above water) and then A MUST...leave in conditioner (also, combs only-with enough conditioner any comb out is pain free)

and am before school feel free to mellow crazy bed head with mixed race hair tamer spray just before leaving for school. I WISH someone had shared that with me!! Good Luck!!

What have you tried? It is important to stick to a product regimen and the basis to moisture is water, leave in conditioner, oil and then you can use a grease to seal it. If you are on facebook I can add you to a few groups that talk about hair tips for natural hair etc...

Olive oil. Soak the hair in warm olive oil and leave it in for at least an hour. The longer the better. Good for the hair and great for the skin. Then rinse it out.

With thick and curly hair, the problem that happens is the residue from the shampoo and conditioner are not completely rinsed out. You should use vinegar as a rinse for the hair, it removes the residue.

Hope this helps :)

Mixed chicks is a very good line for children and adults. Me and my daughter both use it. It is a bit pricey, but it lasts for a good while. Also when you are washing conditioning the hair stick to more natural ingredients. Moisture the hair as soon as possible, and if your daughter wears it curly blow dry it with heat protection moisturizer. Hope this helps.
