What should I look for in an application for storytime and learning?

I have two kids, aged three and six (boy and girl respectively),and I am looking for some other applications that tell stories or help to keep my kids preoccupied while I am indisposed. I have heard of one called "Best Kids Songs-Stories" that a lot of my friends who have kids similar to the ages of mine have recommended. Does anyone know if this is a good application? and are there any others people can recommend?

A company called Westing Woods does animated shorts of high quality children's books. They tend to be very expensive because they're aimed at schools and institutions, but you can sometimes get collections of them from Scholastic or on Amazon for a good price. Our kids watch very little tv, and hardly use computers at all, but these are really, really well done I don't feel bad them watching these.

I know you were looking for apps, but if you're interested in DVDs I highly recommend these.
