I used a sling for the nursing one and learned to do miraculous things one-handed, like wiping bums. Spending alot of time in the bathroom is necessary so think up some silly songs or games for this quality time together and make a really big deal about dry diapers.

That's a good start. He's aware and can appreciate rewards for successful potty events. I started my 2nd child (EC)@3 mos and cloth diaper and this has made me realize that within ten minutes after: waking up, eating a meal, drinking, or changing activities (and within two minutes of changing a diaper usually), it's time to try for a tinkle. Stay consistent even when it's easier to just let them go in the diaper - get a Potty Pod for travel! Good luck!

I'm struggling with this as well for my 22 month old Son and I'm a single Mom so no "Father figure" around to help me. My Son knows when he went "poo poo" but he's not getting the pee pee part. I read below someone saying to put him on his potty every time I go potty. I wonder if that works... I want someone to tell me how to do this, I'm sick of buying diapers!!

I would say try it and see how it goes, I tried with my daughter at 2 and she wasn't ready then, I waited a few months then tried again, and she took right to it.

If he knows he's went potty, it's a good time to start. I noticed that my son still keep peeing in the pull ups, so I put actual big boy underwear inside the pull ups. This allowed him to still feel the wet sensation but prevented me from having to clean up a big mess. Took about 3 days of that and he was broke and been going potty like a big boy ever since!! Good luck!!

If you are ready to tackle it, then I'd say anytime. Make sure you have lots of time to dedicate, have lots of patience, and the things you need. Start by getting a potty chair and leaving it in the bathroom, then when you have to go, put him on his and tell him to 'go potty', accidents will happen and there are good days and bad days, just remember not to punish him for these accidents no matter how frustrating it gets.
