Katherine, that's exactly what happened to my Lemala.. she was taken to ER after the Primary doc just blew it off and then Lemala was diagnosed w/ Pneumonia and double ear infections and I was very very upset! so as Vicki is saying.. they aren't gods and they are human.. but the truth of the matter is this.. "Moms just have that sense that something is wrong always" so I am the grandma and I always see it in their eyes first, but the service my Lemala is getting is all medications to give her and no one is going above and beyond. I am just worried she'll develop something more serious due to neglect.. or whatever .. poor insurance. So my husband and I are going to get Legal Guardianship over her, she's the youngest of 4 kids. This way she will have a real doctor.. and the SAME DOCTOR to see her all the time w/ out the 5 hour wait in the ER room or the waiting list to see a Primary doc is over a month!!! they live in Solano County, not a good place to get good medical treatment.

I trust my son's pediatrician the most however if there were a need to go to the ER I would have no choice but to trust the Doctor we were seeing since it would only be an emergency that would take us to the ER. We do have pediatricians at the ER near our house so that always makes me feel better.

Sorry just to elaborate. Doctors are human, not gods, they can be wrong, they have different opinions, and what they say isn't gospel. If in doubt get a third opinion.

That's a really good question. I have a pretty close relationship with my PCP, on the other hand there are things I don't agree with with my daughters' PCP. My daughter had welts all over her body, was throwing up and coughing horribly. Not to mention the rash on her cheeks.

I took her to her primary care and she basically blew it off. I put her in the car and took her to ER Pediatrics. Turned out she had the flu, bronchitis and fifth's disease. Needless to say I was NOT happy!!!
