my 20 month old son is always thirsty and yes he only drinks water he does not really like water with any flavour. He has never slept through the night because of this he wakes up 2-3 time a night for a drink.
But is a good eater too
Any ideas please

Don´t worry. It doesn´t have to be diabetes or such. At this age children are seemingly thirsty in the day and at bedtimes. 3-4 times isn´t that much. Try keeping a baby bottle filled with water by the bed. Our children are normal and with no diabetes, and they did the same at that age. When they got older, they began sleeping through the night more and more.

I would not withhold water from her. Children and adults DO need a lot of water each day. It may seem like a lot, too, but in reality it isn´t really as much as you think.

if you don't have diabetes in the family and he has been tested then he is either getting up out of habit..(because he knows he can get away with it).

To get rid of the problem..reduce the amount of water you give him each time..it's rediculous that you should have to wake up that many times for water. You need to sleep to be a good mom to your little one. Teach him that getting up isn't worth it because he won't get what he wants.

not to worry you but have you had him checked for diabetes? (especially if there's any family history) extreme thirst is one symptom.
