ok so i am a step mom of a soon to be 3 year old my husband has full custody of him ihave raised his since before walking. i admit i have anxiety problems im 34 years old and i dont have children of my own due to ovarian cysts. i love my son as if he were mine (i feel like he is). so my issue / concern is that he feels as though he needs to be up under me and his father all the time. like i never can carry on a conversation with anyone on phone or in person without him yelling or hitting me. plus he has 50 million toys his own room his own bathroom and never wants to play with his toys only on top of me! i honestly do not get 5 minutes of quiet time. he talks squels and yells all the time. nap time nope that out of the question and never sits still. the result of that i cant even take him to the doctor with me without him smacking me and talking over the doctor............. ok then when his daddy gets home after a very hard day at work he automatically needs to be on top of him and i feel bad because he never gets to relax. if you tell my son no or its bed time then its not even a tantrum its crying. i dont believe in spanking either and no i do not, judge everyone has thier ways. ok with all of that out of the way, im just concerned and need advise because honestly i has gotten to the point of me and my husband never get time for anything cant even communicate anymore please help......................

Hello, Katherine! I’m sorry you’re having such tough time with your stepson. You might find these links useful: http://bit.ly/1GqEURt and http://bit.ly/1q8xqNK. Also, it might be helpful to speak to a counselor for further assistance. I know that Focus on the Family has free licensed counselors that you can call at 1-800-A-FAMILY. I’m sure they would love to help. I’ll keep you in my prayers and I hope things will be better soon. Hang in there!
