My son who's almost 1 still wont sleep through the night, he wakes every 4 hours for a bottle, when i give the bottle, he refuses to go back to sleep. He's overcome his milestone of walking as he is walking like a pro. I have tried to leave him to self soothe, but after 20 minutes i cannot handle it any longer. I even put him in our bed and he just wants to play. He only sleeps about 3 hours during the day. HELP!!

very frustrating, i know...my son's 2 and we still occasionally have the same issues. soothing bedtime rituals sometimes help, but not always. softly playing classical music helps a lot in our case, and when he does start crying, we've had to learn to give it about 45 mins before checking on him...he usually drifts off right before the time's up. oh and in the past, just holding him and pacing the floor with him singing to him softly did wonders. he'd fall back to sleep and i'd be able to just lay him back down (sing one more song before i left the room to make sure he stayed asleep) and sneak out.

Instead of just giving water, water down the formula until it is water. It may take a while but it is worth a shot!! My neighbors baby is 21months and doesnot sleep through the night, some children it just takes longer. She tried the cry it out and that does not work for them! Just be patient and take deep breathes.

Hi Melissa, Jayden has a pacifier, i tried giving him water instead of the bottle, the first night, he had two sips, turned over and went to sleep, did it again three nights after that and he just screems when he realises its not milk. Im really hoping he'll grow out of this bad habit, but they say, he needs to be taught how to sleep right through!

ewww.. this is very hard! Have you tried weaning him from milk to maybe water or using a pacifier(if you use it)? My son would wake a lot at night but never would stay awake... so it's really hard to give good advice. But I did the weaning to water then to his pacifier(which he was already using) and now he sleeps from 9:30-10p to 5:30a with no wake ups. Good luck!

try giving your son a bath at night and use johnson's lavender bedtime bath and lotion. that helps, or and hour before bed take him outside for play time and get him good and tired. Hope this helps.
